Objectives

  1. To represent and give prestige to its associates, as well as to the valuation activity, before the Public Administration and Society, both in Portugal and abroad;

  2. To establish the technical, deontological and professional standards to which the actions of its members should be adjusted;

  3. To ensure the quality control of the valuation work carried out by its associates, for greater assurance from third parties;

  4. To draw up the reports and opinions requested by the State or any Public Entity, or its associates, in case of arbitration;

  5. To promote, by all means, the professional training of its associates and the exchange of information and technical experience between them;

  6. To prevent, by all legal means, the exercise of the valuation activity by persons or entities without recognised professional qualifications, as well as by those who carry out activities that are incompatible or have a conflict of interest with the necessary independence of the valuation;

  7. To study and propose to the Public Authorities and regulatory bodies, at European, National or Municipal level, the adoption of actions or the promulgation of legal provisions that are convenient for the defence and prestige of the profession and for a better guarantee of the recipients of the valuations made;

  8. To establish agreements or links of collaboration and exchange of information with other associations or entities, public or private, both national and foreign, or of international scope, related to the activity that characterises the profession of the associates.

The ASAVAL - Associação Profissional das Sociedades de Avaliação also aims to make every effort to ensure that it is given the right to regulate the profession of appraiser practised by valuation companies and individual appraisers, by creating the structures which will enable it to fully exercise its function of controlling access to and the exercise of the profession by valuation companies and individual appraisers, as well as their deontological function.
